Vibrant Spirit: Easter Retreat in Andalusia

March 28th - April 2nd 2024

Experience 6 days of deep yoga, meditation, breathwork, cold dips and savor the delights of nourishing organic cuisine under the warm embrace of the southern Spanish sun. Awaken your spirit with Malva & Juliette.

Join us for a transformative journey of mind, body, and spirit – where growth meets joy! Blossom into a new version of yourself through movement, workshops, breath work, meditation, inspiring talks, and nourishing, wholesome meals. Shed the winter heaviness and embrace the lightness of a fresh start. Dive into the heart of yoga, embrace the warmth of Andalusian sun, and let your spirit 'sprout' anew. Our intention is to awaken your deepest hearts desire so that when you return home, you are able to pour from the inside out your passion and purpose with your outer world.

The yoga that you will find in this retreat will mainly be different explorations of Vinyasa Yoga (dynamic practices linking breath and movement) and Synergy Yoga (a modern flow style fusing traditional Indian Hatha Yoga, internal martial arts, and western physiotherapy).

However this will also vary according to group needs, time of day and different focuses, and we’ll include time for both fun partner yoga sessions as well as deeply relaxing restorative yoga!

The idea of our practice and teachings is to create a practice for the modern Western body, which in some ways is quite different from the traditional bodies that yoga was originally created for. You will find that the practices we do are very effective, efficient, and will help you develop strength, flexibility and inner power by using mainly active movements and key actions to help the circulation of blood, energy and information through the body.

Pause, breath, listen.

The word “retreat” means as much as “withdrawing yourself” from everyday life. During a retreat you can fully immerse yourself in the process, you do not have to do anything else. It is an opportunity to slow down and find a safe space to be with true essence.

Floor-based poses are held for a longer period of time, typically three to five minutes or longer to target the connective tissues and fascia, rather than focus on the muscles. This increases flexibility while working on the meridians (energy channels) of the body. The practice allows for deep relaxation and energetic recharge.

Grazalema is a small white village with about 2000 inhabitants and is located in the middle of the Sierra de Grazalema National Park. The town is located on the edge of a mountain that has a height of 600 to 1600 meters. It has a microclimate that gets the most rainfall in all of Spain, namely about 2200 liters per square meter per year. The main industry has been the furniture industry and the hand weaving of lambswool cloth, used for shawls and blankets, an industry that started in the middle ages and continues till today. Many people come to hike in the mountains and to climb them too. The pinsapo is a unique Spanish fir that grows only in the area and now is the symbol of the mountains. The nearby Valley of Benamahoma generates plenty of electricity because of all of the rainfall.

There are about 30 different hikes around Grazalema, all equally beautiful. Our guides will be happy to take you to the one suited for your needs in terms of the grade of difficulty and duration.

Suryalila Retreat Centre, Andalusia

This retreat will take place in Villamartín, Spain. Situated in the heart of Andalusia, famous for its mountains, white painted towns perched on hills, stunning coastlines, and cities full of history.

Suryalila is a beautiful old renovated olive farm consisting of eight houses that form the cortijo. In typical Spanish style, there are two inner courtyards, one of which blooms with orange and lemon trees. The property sits on 45 acres of land and is still a working olive farm with 350 olive trees. Suryalila also grows organic vegetables and fruits and keeps chickens for eggs.

Suryalila is nestled serenely in a large open valley in the foothills of the Sierra de Grazalema. This majestic mountain range can be seen looming large on the horizon behind Suryalila. A striking part of the natural beauty of the property is the breathtaking vista extending in all directions: rolling hills, fields of sunflowers, and lakes. The sense of vastness and expansiveness is very uplifting.

Three daily delicious and homemade organic vegetarian meals are included in the total cost of this retreat.

Suryalila Retreat Centre pride themselves on their outstanding vegetarian fare. Meals are delicious, diverse, and beautifully presented, using all organic and mostly local ingredients. They produce their own olives and olive oil, as well as, many of their own fruits and veggies.

Everything they grow is organic – no chemicals or fertilizers are used. They have many fruit trees including figs, peaches, pears, apricots, pomegranates, apples, and grapes. In the cooler months, they like to grow plenty of greens, including kale and different varieties of cabbage and lettuce.

The organic free-range eggs come from our own happy chickens. Since the team is vegetarian, the birds have long and happy lives!

I couldn't recommend a retreat more if I tried! Malva was so easygoing and fun to be around and I learnt so much about yoga in just a few short days. Such good value for money and the range of activities we did made the experience so interesting. Can't wait to join another retreat one day!
